Improving your looks can help to make you feel good about yourself. And if you feel good about yourself, you are likely to feel more confident as well. Wearing makeup is about more than looking glamorous. It is just as much about feeling beautiful as it is about looking beautiful. And who doesn’t want to look and feel his or her best?
Other people tend to look directly into our eyes. It only makes sense then that enhancing the eyes will attract attention. Even women who generally choose not to wear a lot of makeup often accentuate their eyes. Emphasizing the lashes can give the impression of larger eyes.
Applying fake eyelashes takes it a step further. While the purpose of wearing mascara is to emphasize the lashes, fake eyelashes can add even more intensity and glamour. Although you need not be a makeup artist to successfully master the technique of applying fake lashes, it does take a bit of patience along with some practice.
While most fake eyelash products are fairly easy to apply, you should not make your first attempt right before going out. It is also important to remember that even though fake lashes are inexpensive and can be found at most cosmetic counters, there are several different varieties available. But most pros will tell you. Almost any brand will do because it’s all in the technique.
Things that you will need to apply lashes correctly include a mirror, tweezers, lash glue, and mascara. A magnifying mirror can make the job a lot easier. Some makeup artists also recommend keeping a sheet of paper handy to hold the lashes.
Be certain to wash your hands before you start. The first step is to squeeze a thin line of lash glue on your hand. Using the tweezers, remove lashes from their holding case and then dip base end of lashes into the glue. Wait about 15 seconds to allow the glue to get a bit tacky before applying lashes to the eyes.
Place the fake lashes as near to the baseline of your own lashes as you can. Press the flat end of the lash gently but firmly, starting from the outer corner of the eye. Slowly press toward the eye with the tweezer's tip. Hold the lash in place for a few seconds until the glue has a chance to dry.
Once the glue is dry, apply some mascara to blend your own lashes with the fake eyelashes, giving your eyes a fuller, larger look. This works especially well if you have a fair complexion. Brown mascara will give a subtler look, while black will make your eyes look more intense.
To remove eyelashes, gently pull them off using tweezers.
